Welcome

On behalf of the Planning Committee, The Center for Social Marketing, and the USF Health, College of Public Health I want to extend a warm welcome to all of you.

I am delighted that you have chosen to set time aside from all of the competing demands and responsibilities that you face as busy professionals to join us this year. We will do our best to honor your attendance by providing a challenging and rewarding experience.

One part of the conference that has become a "signature" is the lovely location. We have been fortunate to return to the Sheraton Sand Key for many years. Please make time to enjoy the beautiful beach and warm Gulf waters.

I also invite you to mark your calendars for June 11th through the 14th, 2010 when the Social Marketing in Public Health Conference celebrates its' 20th Anniversary! Among the distinguished speakers who will join us is Professor Phillip Kotler, the S.C. Johnson & Son Professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

Professor Kotler has received numerous awards for his work as a scholar and marketing expert, has published a prolific array of work, and consulted for such companies as IBM, General Electric, AT&T, Honeywell, Bank of America, and Merck.

However, of special significance to social marketers is that, in 1971, along with his colleague Gerald Zaltman, Professor Kotler gave birth to our field with the seminal article, Social Marketing: An Approach to Social Change, published in the Journal of Marketing.

We hope to see all of you back next year for this celebration of social marketing and public health.

There are many USF folks around to help you. Please don't hesitate to stop me or any of our team for assistance, support, or just to visit for a while.

I am so happy you are here. Thank you for joining us!

Sincerely,
Jim Lindenberger
